About this site

What’s this all about then?

This is a project sharing content about Shropshire (and, sometimes, other bits of the Welsh Marches).

Actually that sounds a bit dull.

This is an exploration of the people, environment, culture and economy of the Welsh border lands.

Not really any better.

This is a groundbreaking and powerful on-line multi-media initiative. It concens one man and his journey through life in Shropshire. Dealing with life, love and loss it touches the hearts of all who read it. It is a contemporary work of genius.

Oh my God!

This is a blog. It’s run by Ben Proctor from likeaword. It has its moments.

Why is it called “Tell The Hours”?

It’s a snatch of one of A E Housman’s poems in the A Shropshire Lad cycle:

Oh see how thick the goldcup flowers
Are lying in field and lane
With dandelions to tell the hours
That never are told again.

So there.

So are you a news site?

No, no no. For Shropshire news visit shropshirelive.com, shropshirestar.com, bbc.co.uk/shropshire or many many places other than here.

I’m not saying we might not cover topical issues here but don’t come here looking for the latest on roadworks around the county.

Aha! You must be a tourism site.

Not that either. Though we’re very keen to share Shropshire in all its glory with potential and current visitors. Shropshire is blessed with a wide range of tourism web sites. Some of them excellent (like Virtual Shropshire). Some of them less so.

Then how do you make money?

The answer to that depends very much on who’s asking.

If you are a family member, employee of my bank or my accountant: don’t worry there is a plan.

If you are someone else: have a look around, chill, maybe hire me to help with your organisation.
